The Wordless Book - The Red Page

The Wordless Book - The Red Page

August 10, 2016

Main Idea:

Jesus died on the cross and rose again to pay for the sins of all people.  Believe on Jesus, who took the punishment for my sin.  Thank You, God, for keeping your promise to send a Savior.

Scripture:

 I Corinthians 15:3b-4  "...that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,"

Catechism:

Questions 93-99
 #93:  Who is Jesus?  Jesus is God who became a man, a Savior.

#94:  What is a savior?  The only One who saves us from our sin.

#95:  Is Jesus man or God?  He is both a perfect man and perfect God.

#96:  What was special about the birth of Jesus?  He was born of the virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit.

#97:  What did Jesus do when He lived almost 2,000 years ago?  He taught His disciples, cared for the poor and died on a cross to atone for our sins.

#98:  What does it mean to atone for our sins?   It means that Jesus took the punishment we deserved by dying on the cross so we could have a relationship with God.

#99:  What happened after Jesus died?  After lying in a tomb, He arose again and defeated death.

Hidden in the Heart, Matt Friedeman, 1999

Apostle's Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried.

The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and life everlasting.

Announcements:

Big Time Congratulations to all who earned a Wordless Book last week for quoting the Scripture from Revelation 5:21!!  I gave away all that I had and have more coming, sadly, they will not be available tonight.

Please remember, your child(ren) may say any of the Scriptures, catechism or creed on any evening. This is a "work at your own pace" challenge.  Even in the months of December-February I would love to continue hearing their memorization and they will receive credit.

NEXT WEEK:

August 17:   Kenwood Kidz Unplugged Talent Show
If your child plays an instrument, sings, is a comedian, has a collection or hobby to show, can do "magic tricks," memorizes well (poems, Scripture passages) ...whatever... we would like them to participate.    Please sign up your child in the comments below.  The goal is to help him or her feel comfortable (as much as is possible) "on stage" and in front of peers.  This is a way to teach/train/practice early and before the teen years come.  It's an opportunity for them to give back to God a talent or gift He has blessed them with.  Please encourage them to participate and talk with them about this opportunity.  IT IS NOT A COMPETITION.

SCHEDULE

Kenwood Kidz Unplugged will not be taking place on these dates:
August 24 - City Gospel Mission (No one meets at the church)
August 31 - GBSC Revival Service (Uncertain of the Kenwood Adults)

Please respond in the comments below or to me personally as to whether or not your family will be participating in Kenwood Kidz Unplugged once school has begun.  My thought was to finish this theme in September.  Due to Kenwood Revival, CGM and an absence for vacation, we would only meet on October 12...which I am HAPPY to do if the kids would like to recite Scriptures, Catechism and Creed that evening.  November will look similar and we would dismiss for December-February. Your thoughts would be welcome.
