Kenwood Kidz Unplugged completed the first 5 week lesson plan, "In Search Of Champions." I have been so pleased with the excitement of the children and their enthusiasm to sing, learn, and participate! Thanks to you for keeping them excited about learning and sharing!! I know it has to be intentional and consistent and that takes effort and self-discipline to make it happen. I applaud you! Better yet - a standing ovation!
I do love hearing your children quote Scripture, answer Catechism questions, and recite portions of The Apostle's Creed. When you think of the difference this will make in their world view, their ability to answer questions from their peers when they are challenged for what they believe, and the unfailing truth of God's Word in their hearts and minds --- whew! This puts a "hallelujah" in my soul!
Concerning Scripture, Catechism, and The Apostle's Creed:
Even though we are moving on to a new theme, your child may continue to work on the Scripture verses, Catechism questions, and the Creed at their (your) own pace. It will always count and this is not a competitive contest. Feel free to use what works for your family. Anything they learn, and learn well, is better than nothing at all!
Concerning sashes and badges:
When a child earns their first badge, they will receive a sash.
At this time badges can be earned for the following: 10 Catechism, 10 Scripture verses, and The Apostles Creed. Later we will be adding badges for portions of Scripture (ex: Psalm 1), for voluntary participation in a talent night, etc.
Coming Up:
July 20 - A new 5 session theme using the colors of the Wordless Book.
Popsicles for all the kids!
August 24 - Kenwood Kidz Have Talent!
Time for your child to showcase their gift - anything goes! If they can play an instrument, sing, yo-yo, have a comedy dialog, recite a poem, ....whatever you would like to encourage them to do and would give them an opportunity to perform in front of an audience of peers. This is not planned for just a fun event - although I do hope it will be fun - the ulterior motive is to give your child(ren) "practice time" so that as teens and adults the fear of public speaking and public participation within the Kenwood church family isn't so scary. It also earns them a badge!
